POSITIVE INFLUENCE OF TECHNOLOGY

Technology is like a coin which has both positive and negative sides. We ,are the deciders and we, have to choose how to use it.  If we use it for positive things, it will have positive effect on our lives and vice versa. It should be an advantage for both the  parties involved.

The development, usage and adaptability  of technology in our lives is not confined to any one sector  . Today, there is no field left untouched by technology . It has spread its branches into all fields,  medical technology, information technology ,agricultural technology even culinary technology. All these industries  are using  technologies according to their needs and requirements.
Technology has opened the world of smart cooking in a way before inexperienced. The culinary industry has lately adapted a number of aiding appliances that have made the process of cooking simplified . Here is how technology has positively influenced the culinary industry.
kitchen technology is most vastly used in heavy-duty requirements .Hotels, Food courts and messes being the best examples of large scale production. These kitchens are, usually ,tied up to a college or a university where students sign up for their daily meals.
The chief chef of "chef on wheels" Mr Vijay, associated with Manipal University’s food court provided me with a deeper insight on the topic. A Middle aged, well-built Mr.vijay has been working for the MIT food court since 5 years .He says “It would have been a ridiculously tedious job of prepping for 5000 students without the aid of kitchen appliances. Not only would it take so long but would also require labour in large numbers”.
refrigerators, ovens, microwaves, blenders, mixers, processors ,grinders ,grills, induction stoves- all play a key role in everyday cooking. The MIT kitchen is very well equipped with the latest appliances. Do you know? he says," we prepare 2500 rotis every hour .For this we use a special roti maker, you just have to feed the machine with the flour and water and that’s all you have to do" .The kitchen mostly uses German machines called voke machines. These machines are completely automated and unmanned devices.   They provide high benefit solutions, tailored to the specific requirements of professional cooks, high capacity, high cooking performances and high power cooking. They save time, reduce the hard manual labour involved and reduce work. One machine completes one entire job thus not creating  any mess . One particular machine washes, peels, boils, cuts, deep fries potatoes. This makes the entire process so simple and uncomplicated. Before the advent of this technology nearly 15-20 people were necessary to run the kitchen now the machines have taken over ,not more than 5 people are necessary . It  also allows for more tasks to be completed in less time. Hence ,he concludes by saying that technology does have a great impact on the culinary industry. Technology has made it possible for this industry to flourish and sustain itself.

CHECKMATE

Technology makes it possible for people to gain control over everything, except technology itself.-john Tudor.

The concept of technology was to help ensure progress in society and to improve the human condition. But the easy accessibility, availability of technology and the use of internet has successfully checkmated man Causing hindrances to his own business. Earlier, only enterprises had easy access to the internet and hence their business flourished in their respective fields. Now, as the internet is easily accessible by all, the number of people approaching these specialized enterprises has reduced in number .hence causing an indirect negative impact.
Here is a case study to prove this impact.

An employee at Sri Ganesh tours and travels Mr. Lambodara Tonse tells me about how technology has indirectly created a negative or adverse impact on his business."32 years of experience in this field and i can see how technology has taken over my business”. Although he agrees that the concept of e-ticketing is very convenient, he is skeptical about the viability of his business in the long run .E-ticketing has been made so customer friendly and easy that there is no need to go to a travel agency anymore. Before the e-ticketing fashion set in ,he says he used to deal with a minimum of 30 people a month .But in the year 2013 it has dropped down to 10 to 15 a month. If this fashion continues, he is sure that his business will last for not more than 2 to 3 years. The people still coming to us are either the ones who don't have an access to the internet or are unaware of e ticketing services. The only reason the business is surviving is because of the service and guarantee we provide .if all the travel agents unite we can collectively compete with the popularity of internet booking. There is still scope for us, he says optimistically!!!
